Brigade Group's interest in Vaikom is part of a larger, publicly announced expansion into Kerala. At the Invest Kerala Global Summit 2025, held in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Brigade Enterprises submitted an expression of interest that named a residential project in Kochi and, specifically, a luxury island resort at Vaikom as the next phase of its Kerala footprint. That expression of interest also proposed a second World Trade Center in the state, alongside the group's existing WTC Kochi. Brigade has indicated these Kerala initiatives are expected to be completed by 2030, with government support and regulatory facilitation as part of the arrangement.
The Vaikom mention sits inside a broader Rs 1,500 crore investment figure that Brigade attached to its Kerala plans, covering the residential project, the island resort, and continued expansion of WTC Kochi's IT infrastructure. Brigade has said this investment is expected to generate employment for around 12,000 people over five years across its Kerala initiatives. For a developer that has spent nearly four decades building in South India, the choice of Vaikom for a resort format, rather than another residential tower, reflects the town's specific backwater geography rather than a generic entry into the district.
Vaikom is a lakeside municipality in Kottayam district, situated on the banks of Vembanad lake, with its western edge bound directly by the lake. It sits close to the Ernakulam district border, roughly 33 km north of Kottayam town and about 183 km from Thiruvananthapuram, placing it within the wider Kochi-Kottayam backwater belt that has long anchored Kerala's tourism economy. The town is one of Kerala's oldest, known for the Vaikom Mahadeva Temple and for village-life traditions such as coir-making, mat weaving, and coconut processing that continue alongside its waterfront.
Vaikom's backwaters connect directly into the same Vembanad system that feeds Kumarakom, the district's best-known houseboat and resort destination just to the south. Vembanad is the largest freshwater lake in Kerala, fed by four rivers, and its shores already support an established base of houseboats, wellness resorts, and eco-tourism operators. A resort sited on Vaikom's stretch of this lake would draw on the same demand base as Kumarakom, tourists seeking backwater cruises, birdwatching, and Ayurvedic stays, while positioning itself in a quieter, less commercially saturated part of the lake.
Brigade Group's move into a resort format is consistent with a hospitality arm it has built over more than a decade, running properties such as the Sheraton Grand Bangalore at Brigade Gateway, Grand Mercure hotels in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Gandhinagar's GIFT City, Holiday Inn properties in Bengaluru and Chennai, and Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark. That last property, in Kochi's IT hub, is the same market where Brigade also operates WTC Kochi, a commercial campus in Infopark that the group has expanded through successive towers. This existing Kerala presence, spanning IT office space and a branded hotel, is the platform from which Brigade has said it wants to add residential and resort assets in the state, with Vaikom named as the site for the resort component.

No unit configurations, pricing, or launch date specific to Vaikom have been published. What is established is the site's role within Brigade's stated Kerala strategy: a resort on Vembanad lake's Vaikom stretch, complementing the group's Kochi office and hotel assets and its planned Kochi residential project, all under the same Rs 1,500 crore investment umbrella disclosed at the Invest Kerala Global Summit.
