M.R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises Limited, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at The Economic Times Real Estate Awards 2026. The ceremony was held on December 25 in Mumbai, celebrating industry leaders whose work has left a lasting impact on India's real estate landscape.
Four Decades Shaping India's Urban Landscape
The honour stands as a testament to Jaishankar's remarkable four-decade-long journey defined by vision, resilience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to shaping cities and communities. Jaishankar is the founder of Brigade Enterprises Ltd., established in 1986.
Jaishankar comes from a reputed family of coffee planters from the hill town of Chikmagalur in the Western Ghats, Karnataka. For over a hundred years, his family has been known in the region for their business integrity and philanthropy. He established Brigade Investments in 1986 with the idea of executing just one project. His vision was evident in the first Brigade project, Brigade Towers, which he launched as a 14-storey office complex.
Brigade's Evolution into a National Developer
Under Jaishankar's leadership, Brigade Group has grown into one of India's most respected real estate developers, creating spaces that reflect trust, quality and endless possibilities. The company has successfully completed over 280 buildings, totalling over 86 million sq ft of developed space.
Brigade Group operates in multiple major cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Ahmedabad, and other fast-growing urban markets. The company operates in multiple verticals, including residential apartments, commercial office spaces, retail properties, and hospitality.
Recognition of Long-Term Contribution

Broader Legacy Beyond Real Estate
Jaishankar is the founder and lifetime trustee of Brigade Foundation and the Indian Music Experience (IME). He was conferred the 'Bharat Ratna' Sir M Visvesvaraya Award in 2022 by the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).
The announcement was made through a regulatory filing under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, dated February 26, 2026.
