A Ritz-Carlton wellness retreat planned for Vaikom Island
Luxury wellness resort hotel accommodation · Price on Request
The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island, Kerala is planned as a luxury wellness resort by Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited. Set across a planned 14.70-acre site, it brings The Ritz-Carlton brand to Vaikom’s distinctive backwater setting. The hotel is planned for approximately 70 keys.
Vaikom’s relationship with Vembanad Lake, village life and the wider backwater region gives the project a strong sense of place. Nearby Kumarakom is part of the same tourism landscape, while Vaikom itself is connected by road and rail. The concept centres on a resort experience rather than residential ownership.
The resort is being developed with Marriott International, which will provide the Ritz-Carlton brand and operate the hotel. The project is described as a wellness resort, planned on a substantial island parcel in Kerala. Its defining proposition is the combination of this setting with a globally recognised hospitality name.
Brigade Hotel Ventures entered into an agreement in October 2024 to acquire an additional 7.62 acres for the resort, extending the company’s existing 7.08-acre holding. The land agreement was extended in June 2025. The company’s hotel pipeline places the target opening in FY2029.
For travellers seeking a considered base in Kerala’s backwater country, Vaikom offers a setting shaped by water, village culture and regional journeys. The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island is planned to bring that setting into a distinctive branded resort experience.
